A Boulder off Flagstaff Road.
The white chalk marks indicate people have been there "bouldering" - or climbing/hanging/practicing on the rock. Many boulderers bring a mat to soften the blow should they fall. In addition, they carry a small pouch of chalk to keep their hands dry as they climb.
It's a hell of a lot harder than you think! :)

I WOULD believe it's difficult. I friend dragged me along on an outing once...note that was once :)

This isn't intended to be a stupid question, but are there a lot of boulders in Boulder?

And, while I am asking stupid questions, was Mork and Mindy really filmed in Boulder? (It was my first introcution to your fair city, please forgive me!)

I can barely scramble up a ladder, let alone a boulder. Fear of heights.

You must have at least a couple of climbing- and mountainering clubs over there or? I have an old Jeff Lowe iceclimbing video and I think the climbing scenes are from Boulder. Looks like an amazing place!
